Jakarta, Indonesia - June 30, 2024 - The world turned its gaze to Jakarta today as the prestigious Induk KUD Headquarters played host to a historic signing ceremony, marking a monumental step forward in Indonesia's journey towards sustainable agriculture and food security. Induk KUD, also known as the National Federation of Rural Cooperatives of Indonesia and the largest agricultural and fisheries cooperative in Indonesia and globally, welcomed esteemed leaders and dignitaries from around the world including Brunei, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Switzerland and the United States, to witness the forging of transformative partnership,s aimed at fortifying the nation's agricultural resilience.
At the helm of this historic occasion were Mr. Portasius Nggedi, Chairman of Induk KUD, and Dr. Ferry Julianto, Secretary General of the Board of Advisors, representing the Induk KUD Chairman of the Board of Advisors, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, also the President-Elect of Indonesia. Their presence underscored Induk KUD's unwavering commitment to driving sustainable agricultural practices and ensuring self-sufficient food security for Indonesia and beyond.
The signing ceremony brought together prominent leaders from various sectors and countries as signatories during the event, including Dr. Nasir Latif, Chairman of FarmFresh Industries; Mr. Ferdinando Becalli, President of Falco Global Partners; Mr. Asad Sultan, CEO of Verdana International; and Mr. Kyle Hong, Managing Director of Alcove Investments. These visionary leaders united with a shared mission to address critical challenges facing Indonesia's agricultural sector and pave the way for a more resilient and prosperous future.
The signing ceremony focused on several key initiatives aimed at advancing agricultural development and ensuring food security for future generations. Highlights of the agreements included the formation of a joint venture between Induk KUD and FarmFresh Industries to manage, finance, and develop the Indonesia School Meal Programs. This initiative not only aims to nourish the nation's youth but also lays the groundwork for sustainable self-sufficient food security, bolstering national food production efforts. Additionally, the event marked the establishment of the Brunei Food Valley, a farming initiative focused on agriculture, aquaculture, and livestock production, covering 1.2 million hectares of land. This project involves the development of plantations and processing facilities and aims to support the Indonesia School Meal Program. It also contributes to the efforts towards achieving self-sufficiency and enhancing food security for both Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.
Furthermore, Falco Global Partners announced its plans to establish the Indonesia Next Generation Fund, emphasizing a commitment to empowering local farmers and fostering sustainable agricultural practices to drive inclusive economic growth.
In his address, Mr. Portasius Nggedi, Chairman of Induk KUD, reaffirmed the organization's dedication to national food production and food security, stating, "Induk KUD plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of agriculture in Indonesia and the world.
